Over 70 professionals took part in an intensive two-day introduction to the ACT model sponsored by Carolina Outreach. Clinicians learned the core concepts of the ACT model while also taking part in experiential activities. This lively group was extremely engaged and full of thought-provoking questions that allowed Dr. Rhonda Merwin to really focus on numerous examples of how to apply the ACT model with diverse populations.
With such a large group you would think that engaging in experiential work would be difficult, but with a little room rearranging and a lot of courage, our “real” play afternoon was a powerful example of ACT in ACTion.
What I love about attending these trainings is the experience of watching individuals new to the ACT model as they begin to grasp the key components and come to some personal realizations about the power of this approach to change people’s lives.
In the spirit of continuing our connections in the community, Dr. Rhonda Merwin will begin leading a Community Consultation group in April, 2015. For additional details, visit our News and Events page, or feel free to contact us directly!
