Our very first community consultation group met today and we shared information about our background, our current practice and our goals for coming together as individuals interested in the ACT model. Our group includes seasoned therapists with vast experience who are new to the ACT model and some who are more familiar with ACT and hoping to improve their skills.
I loved hearing other providers talking about a need to know what ACT looks like "in the real world." Sometimes as we talk about cases and present a case forumlation I find myself feeling excited, and I then feel that I can move forward with this client having clear direction and purpose.
Sometimes we will find ourselves floudering after a difficult session and asking ourselves, "no what?"
I hope that the community consultaiton group will help individuals integrate ACT more into their practice if they have a desire to do so, and at the same time we will help each other navigate a very difficult, challenging process.
