Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science (ABCS)

The Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) is a worldwide nonprofit professional membership organization associated with ACT and RFT, among other topics. The term "contextual behavioral science" refers to the application of functional contextualism to human behavior, including contextual forms of applied behavior analysis, cognitive-behavioral therapy and evolution science. ACBS hosts an annual international conference. The conference is multiple days and multiple tracks and provides quality training in CBS, RFT, ACT among other relevant topics (e.g., FAP). The ACBS website has resources such as a Peer-Reviewed ACT Trainer List, a function to find an ACT therapist in a particular area and access to research articles, protocols and other clinical resources (more resources are available for individuals who join the organization). ACBS's flagship journal is the Journal of Contextual and Behavioral Science (JCBS). Check it out here.

MAC ACBS / ACT Carolinas

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (MAC-ACBS).  MAC-ACBS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to  to carry out the goals of ACBS at the local level. These goals include working with professionals, students and the public to better respond to the problem of human suffering. MAC is a growing community of people - therapists, researchers, teachers, coaches, nurse practitioners, etc. - who share a common interest in the work that is going on in contextual behavioral sciences including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relational Frame Theory (RFT) Functional Analytic Therapy (FAP), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Our overriding mission is to foster the development of contextual behavioral practice, science, and community service within the Mid-Atlantic region (i.e., MD, DC, VA, WV, DE, NC and SC).  To that end, we conduct regular clinical trainings, and we've facilitated the development of several peer consultation groups in the region. We're also working to increase member networking and referrals via our member listserv.  Our aim is to build and support a sense of community among MAC and all ACBS members.

ACT Carolinas is a local affiliate of the larger MAC Chapter. Access the ACT Carolinas listserv here.
